“The Star” was a concept illustration for an authorial short story, “The Play and the Star” (“A Peça e a Estrela” in the original Portuguese version). It depicts the character of Aster (which you can check more about in some of the projects of the concepts tab), in golden and star stamped clothing.

In the story, he is attributed with the task of assassinating a rich aristocrat while acting as the main protagonist of a play, “The Star”. Thankfully, the character he’s acting as uses a star shaped mask throughout the whole play, hiding his true identity. Ironically or not, Aster, whose name literally means “star”, is more than ready to use his skills to perform and be that spectacle’s true star (while still managing to complete his mission). This watercolor and acrylic mix painting was the foundation that led to the creation of the story, depicting Aster while dressed as his character in the play.
